So the app switches from "Scanning for device" to "connecting" but it never progresses from there. I have an iPhone 13 Pro so I tried from a 17 pro as well, it connected once to the 17 but a restart of the app put it back to the same state. I have not had any more successful connections since. the device appears to start pairing mode just fine, flashes for 30 seconds and the shuts off. Reset of 10 seconds works as well, goes red, then back to pairing. But that's it, no connect.
I had the same problem after I updated the app via Test Flight. I finally went for the nuclear option and:
- Deleted the Bluetooth Device
- Deleted the app <= this will delete sequences & automations!!!!
- Reinstalled (same version) from Test Flight
Then it reconnected fine. NOTE: I had not created any sequences or automations I wanted to save. So I did not try the export and import functions.

Unfortunately, that only worked for that day. Yesterday, the app refused to connect or re-pair.
@evplayadmin -- any suggestions on further troubleshooting?
Success! I updated via Test Flight to Auto-Mate version 1.2(4), and things appear to be working.
After updating, I could not initially connect to the device, so I did the following without loosing my sequences or automations:
- Went to "Settings" => "Bluetooth" => "Auto-Mate Remote" and forget that device
- Quit the "Auto-Mate" app (not sure if needed).
- Press the red-dot-tab on the back of the Auto-Mate device for about 3 seconds until the green light started blinking
- Re-launched the "Auto-Mate" app, and let it connect.
Since then, I've successfully reconnected several times after leaving and letting the car sleep.
Yay! 🎉
@evplayadmin I missed your reply while I was testing -- but I did learn from last time and checked for an update. Thanks for the reply!
@hal Awesome, did it end up working? If not please reach out and let's figure it out!
@evplayadmin I think I see the problem. My device is not showing up as a discoverable Bluetooth device. I never get an actual pair prompt from the phone.
Update: It's much better on 1.2(4), but not fully predictable.
Sometimes, it works perfect on reconnect when I enter vehicle. If it doesn't work, a quick tap of the red button seems to unstick it. If that doesn't work, then a long-press-on-red-tab to enter pairing mode seems to always do it. Although, sometime it will just connect, and other times pop up the "do you want to pair" alert in the app.
I think which steps are required may depend on time-since-last-connect. I'll try to keep better track of time to confirm.
So is this supposed to be a full phone to device pairing routine, or is the app handling a BLE connection without pulling the device into the db?
Welp, now I think there is a problem with the Bluetooth radio. Unit FINALLY connected to the phone and prompted a pair. I accepted it and was able to execute the builtin script…then it disconnected and didn’t finish the execution and hasn’t reconnected yet
@z3v0 I am in the process of enabling logging on the next build. Are you iPhone or Android?
