EVP app should have a watchdog.

This is not really a bug, but not really a feature request either. I learned the hard way that, if the EVP app is not running for any reason, the only solution is to pull the power leads to restart the app. If one is not at home with proper tools and workspace, they will be looking at a frozen or black screen with no recourse. Given how difficult it is to access the installed unit, there should be another solution. I propose that a separate watchdog app should be started so that if EVP ever becomes unresponsive, it will restart the EVP app. Additionally, it should put the video switch back to passthrough mode just in case the EVP app is somehow corrupted or can't run.

To reboot EV Play, swipe the system tray down>Power button>Restart. If the EV Play screen itself appears frozen, just take the wireless keyboard we provided and do the same.

If for some reason the app becomes unresponsive and won't switch to EV Play, all you have to do is exit the vehicle and come back in like 8 minutes. This will reboot EV Play once you open the doors, which takes about 20 seconds.

The EV Play app (service) itself does have a watchdog, but I have improved upon it and will push an update which addressees this and other bugs shortly.

Thanks for the quick response, Alex. When I accidentally killed the EVP app yesterday, thinking a sleep cycle would probably fix it, I tried all of the above including soft and hard Rivian reset and got nothing but a black screen until I dug back into the dash and removed the power leads. After that, doing a soft reset restored normal operation. I learned my lesson and will never do this again. Hopefully your improvements will cover the situation if the app is killed or crashes for any other reason. I'm a software engineer and I can certainly appreciate all of the hard work and trial/error cycles that went to this development. It's a great accomplishment and I look forward to the future improvements.
