I thought I saw this brought up in a thread but I couldn’t find it.
is it possible to have EVPlay pass along my connect+ internet to my phone?
My setup is as follows.
EVPlay connected to the Rivian hotspot ssid. EVPlay can connected to the internet (checked by testing to see if an update is available). iPhone’s CarPlay seems to communicate over the Autobox ssid. But on the phone it says no connectivity to internet.
Thinking that might be a false neg, I cut cell service off at the phone and CarPlay complained.
I might have missed something, but can it be done?
Mostly want it so I’m not over taxing my phone and use the bandwidth with connect+.
thank you

I might be answering my own question but Autobox assigns ip via dhcp, I wonder if I change that to static and add the Autobox as my router, the phone will route traffic that way. I’m weak on Android tech, but from a ip/routing perspective, adding a router ip (default gateway) should resolve this.

@tkauftheil EV Play has two Bluetooth and WiFI modules - one for the Android device, and one specific to wireless CarPlay/Android Auto. The WiFi that the AA/CP module uses is WiFi-direct [between your phone and the AA/CP module] and so there is no internet connectivity. There is internet connectivity, as you know, on the Android device.
You should not use Connect+ connected to your phone and wireless AA/CP at the same time, as that's too much bandwidth for your phone's WiFi and both connections will suffer. If you want to use Connect+ connected to your phone, use a wired AA/CP connection. Simply run a cable between your phone and the single, black USB port on EV Play.
