Getting Started with Auto-Mate
Auto-Mate is a small wireless adapter ("Auto-Mate Remote") that plugs into either one of your Rivian®'s center-console USB port and lets your phone control the infotainment touchscreen automatically — executing sequences of taps based on triggers such as location, speed, and when you connect to the remote.
What's in the Box
- Auto-Mate Remote (USB-C adapter)
- USB-C cable
You will also need:
- An Android or iOs phone
- The EV Auto-Mate app
Step 1 — Install the App
If you have already registered for an account, please log in now.. If have not received the email with instructions on how to register for an account, please follow these instructions:
1) Register for an EV Play Account from your phone:
https://evplay.io/user/automate/register.php
(for security purposes, you will need to register for a separate Auto-Mate account even if you have an existing EV Play account)
iPhone users: After creating an account, log in from your phone and follow the steps to register your phone. This process involves a few extra steps, but allows us to provide the Auto-Mate app, and its updates, without having to wait for the App Store (which has been inundated recently with millions of junky AI app approvals and thus is severely backlogged). Rest assured this method is 100% safe and secure, and please accept any warning prompts. Make sure your VPN is off temporarily during this process. Once you have successfully registered your phone, send me an email (alex@evplay.net) and I will update your account.
Android users: After creating an account, log in to access download instructions.
Both: Follow the instructions for iPhone above and then email me to get the iPhone version of the app. The Android version of the app will be available when you log in.
During first launch the app will request Bluetooth and Location permissions. Both are required — Bluetooth to communicate with the Auto-Mate remote and Location for GPS-based automations.
Step 2 — Plug In the Auto-Mate Remote
Plug the Auto-Mate Remote into either one of the USB ports inside your center console.
Step 3 — Pair Your Phone
Once the device is plugged into a USB port, launch the app and press Connect at the bottom of the screen (if it isn't attempting to Auto-Connect). On most phones it should try and pair automatically. You may have to confirm the pair once or twice. If for some reason it does not connect:
- Locate the small button with the red dot (the other unmarked button is a reset button) on the Auto-Mate Remote
- Hold it for 3 seconds — the LED will blink green rapidly to indicate pairing mode
- Open the EV Auto-Mate app and tap Connect
- Accept the Bluetooth pairing prompt(s) on your phone
Once paired, future connections happen automatically — you will never need to press the button again unless you switch phones.
Tip: Pairing mode times out after about 30 seconds. If the app doesn't connect in time, hold the pair button again.
Step 4 — Verify the Connection
When connected, the app's home screen shows a green Connected status.
To confirm everything is working, go the Record Sequences and click the arrow buttons — you should see the cursor move on your infotainment screen.
You're Ready!
