EV Play has been great overall with very few issues for me. The one question I have is about messaging through iMessage. When I receive a txt, the Google system in my vehicle chimes that I received a txt and takes over, sticking iMessage in the background. If you respond, it does so through Google. I tried to turn off the Google Assistants ability to read txt messages to see if that would work, but it seems that disables being able to respond to messages in iMessage through voice. What is the proper sequence to setup the system so iMessage is the sole messaging app eliminating the built in Google infotainment?
I have a Silverado EV with Android 14 infotainment.
I think I have determined the setting to alleviate most of the issue.
- Turn off Google Assistants ability to read/respond to txt messages. Txt messages only show up as iMessage icon in CarPlay and annoying google box on top of that is gone. Sending txt's through CarPlay function as intended.
- Turn phone call notifications to only display in the Drivers display and not the infotainment display. Phone calls appear in CarPlay as normal where you can answer them. The google display still shows in the Drivers display but does not cover the CarPlay phone notification anymore. Only drawback still unresolved is when you place a call, it still takes over the entire infotainment screen.
