R1T | CarPlay | EVPlay version unknown (as I have nod display)
I previously posted that I had lost my EVCarply display output and had to hard reset the Rivian to get it to return.
Since I drove a day or two without issue. Yesterday I drove over an hour no issue, when I parked the screen began flickering and the display compressed to half the width of the Vivian's physical screen size and continued to flicker. Both EVPlay and native Rivian display are hosed. had to go to dinner so I left figuring I would address later.
I return to the car a couple of hours later, and no display. Infotainment reboot and hard reboot follow, both to no avail.
This AM I open up the car, reseat all cables, and display resumes. I shut the car off. come back and no display. No EVPlay nor Rivian displayed.
Do I have a bad unit, bad cables?
I have also been dealing with a variation of this... Often times I get in the truck and the screen is dark.
Audio will play from the rivian side but the screen is blank.
It eventually returns with a few bumps of the button.
I have also noticed the EVcar play is unresponsive to touch after the display does re appear.
Concerned I may also end up with a blank screen on both sides.
I just reseated everything again, but this time I mounted the unit in a different location (as I suspect I have having a cable issue).
I literally mounted the device infant of the fuse box, just behind the floor light, with the fan aligned to the vents in the Rivian's plastic cover.
Wish me luck.
@rub-ish Make sure to try long-pressing the remote next time this happens. This will wake the screen back up after Rivian puts it to sleep.
ha! upon my first read, I thought @Alex was calling my reseting of the EVPlay "rubbish"!
I had to re-read. 😉
Update:
I wanted some time to pass to ensure my changes worked or did not.
I relocated the EVPlay unit, aligning its fan with the ventilation openings in the plastic under the dash.
Since the relocation - 100% correct behavior. No issues switching. No loss of console display. It's been great.
