FWIW, I downloaded Google's Gboard on-screen keyboard from the Play Store. This is pretty standard for most devices. I can now type on the Rivian screen if I dodn't want to always use the mini keyboard.
Not sure if I would 100% recommend to others since my unit is no longer switching screens. Can't imagine this would cause that, but be wary.

Most likely unrelated. Also, you can enable the on-screen keyboard without downloading anything under the [strangely named] Physical Keyboard in the Android system settings.
I just disconnected dongle for the keyboard and the touch one came up.
