I bought evplay for CarPlay. I want a turnkey system, but there’s all this talk about Android, Android Auto, etc. Before I tear my dash (and hands/arms) apart installing this thing, I’d like to understand the UX/workflow of just using it for CarPlay. The comments are full of caveats, “AA this, AA that, it doesn’t work like it does in CarPlay”etc. Quite confusing. I don’t want to be a dev, I just want to get into the truck & have CarPlay come up on the screen.
I hear you! The original poster of that thread is an Android enthusiast, which is why a lot of the comments lean in a technical direction. Totally understand that people just want CarPlay and the rest of the features can take a hike. So yes, the beauty of EV Play is that it is as simple or complicated as you want it to be. With that said, I think it does require a tiny bit of technical know-how and patience. It's certainly not a plug n' play OEM device backed by an entire team of hardware and software developers. But most find it easy to use and provides a generally good experience. Plus, we're always here if you get stuck.
