So I finally had time to install my EVPlay and we went out for dinner to celebrate / test things. I only have one issue: everything is blindingly bright. My center display is at full brightness and cannot be dimmed. I tried the Rivian UI brightness and it changes the driver display but the center display stays at full brightness. I switched to the EVPlay UI and couldn’t adjust the brightness at all there, either. It stays at full brightness no matter what I do in settings. Am I doing something wrong or do I have a hardware or software issue? Thanks!

Try long pressing the wireless remote for a quick dim.
Or, use the brightness slider from the drop-down tray (won't work if Auto-Brightness is set in the EV Play App).
@evplayadmin I did try the brightness from the drop-down tray and from the EVPlay app settings. It started working after a sleep cycle, but now I have two other problems which mean I have to temporarily disconnect my EVPlay until I get back from a road trip:
1. When the vehicle wakes up, the center display is black and stays black indefinitely until I long press the wireless remote. This makes switching drivers really annoying.
2. The EVPlay usually doesn’t react to touchscreen inputs: not in CarPlay, the EVPlay app, or even at the OS level. When it does this I have to rely on the (very cool!) compact wireless keyboard and trackpad. When I switch back to the Rivian OS it works fine.
I don’t know if I have a hardware issue of some sort or if something else is going on. Any thoughts? Thanks!

1) This should only happen infrequently -- when you exit and return to the vehicle in a short period of time -- and will happen even less once the auto-switch gear functionality bug gets fixed. Best practices is to switch to the Rivian UI before exiting the vehicle (which the auto-switch attempts to accomplish).
2) There is a delay of between 1 and 3 seconds before the touchscreen resumes after switching. Best practice is to give it a second or two after switching before touching the screen. Banging on the screen right after it switches just extends the time needed for touch to resume.
1. This happens every single time, including every morning after the vehicle has been sleeping overnight. I also leave it in the Rivian UI when shutting the vehicle off because I like the surround view cameras. I’ve gotten in and left it alone for a timed 120 seconds. No matter how long between drives and seemingly no matter how long I wait, the only way to get anything on the center screen is a long-press of the remote.
2. I read that on here previously and I tried waiting 5 to 120 seconds after switching.
I do IT work so I promise that I am patient and try different ways of using systems. My unit doesn’t seem to behave like others describe on here so I’m left thinking I have an atypical device with either a hardware or software issue.
I’ll reconnect the unit and do the Watchdog app installation then I’ll report back. Thank you for helping me with this!
@socal-rob Let me know, happy to swap out the unit to see if it is in fact hardware related. Email me directly - alex@evplay.net
