I tried to respond to my original question here: https://evplay.io/community/frequenty-asked-questions/how-does-sound-from-ev-play-mix-with-native-rivian-sound#post-43 but since you moved it to the other forum I cannot reply to it there.
I think what you are saying is that the only way that EVPlay will send audio to the Rivian System is through a Bluetooth audio connection, is that correct? So this means that the EVPlay device isn't using a hardware method of playing sound (like it seems like it's doing for the display), but instead just pairing to the Rivian as a bluetooth device. So we'd have to manually choose EVPlay as the active bluetooth device to get sound from EVPlay, and then if we wanted sound from our phone/etc, we'd have to manually swap back to that Bluetooth device.
Is that an accurate description?
Correct, sort of. If you are using EV Play for Android Auto or CarPlay, then it's your phone that is actually hooked up to the Rivian Bluetooth audio. If you want to use a native Android app on EV Play itself (for example one that isn't available on AA/CP like Netflix), then you would instead pair EV Play to your Rivian Bluetooth audio.
Hope that helps!
That's helpful info Alex. Is there a technical path to hardwiring in audio, or is that a "never gonna happen at least with current models because there's no way to get the audio in" type thing?

They said CarPlay was impossible, but here we are! So, "never gonna happen," at least from a technical standpoint, is probably not the case. I feel it is totally possible. But, it comes down to the amount of resources required to figure it out vs. the market demand to make the capital investment worth it. I know a few folks would love an audio in solution...but how many, really, at the end of the day? The other thing is, from what I understand the amplifier is located under the seat and it requires seat removal to access it -- not something for the faint of heart.
With that said, perhaps I'll take a quick peak next time I have some free time. Maybe it is easier than we all think!
Is there any delay in the audio? You can make a video with latency tests (there are many test videos on youtube for visual indication of audio latency)
