Just "one deep" would be helpful, especially for sharing sequences.

I (and I assume many others) have re-ordered the console icons to fit my preference. This meant I had to edit the supplied sequences to make them work. Not a huge deal, assuming the sequence is well documented, but a nuisance if the start icon is not immediately displayed (so getting there requires a sequence of clicks). To use someone else's sequence, I'd only have to change their "click at X" (e.g. where their map icon is) to a "go to Y" (e.g. the sequence that activates the map on my console.)

I think this could also be implemented as an "edit time" feature: "insert sequence Z here". That would be a bit more work if I decided to change my icon ordering, but might simplify implementation.

I understand what you are saying and on my to-do is implementing something similar to the Home Screen Return feature, but more along the lines of a "Start Screen Icon" coordinate list. You would set your screen icon coordinates, then sequences would start with one of those entries. They would also be universally called, meaning, if someone's sequence started on the music screen, they would add "Music Screen" as the starting step and if you imported that sequence, it would already work because you had previously set the coordinates for the Music Screen. Make sense? Thoughts?

Ooohhh -- even better! If I'm understanding correctly:

  • I do a one time setup on my app config for where each screen is located in that vehicle.
  • As step 1 in a sequence, I indicate the start screen (if any). My sequence can then assume that screen is already displayed for the rest of the steps
  • Sharing "just works" \o/

This would be really awesome if it could also address the "secondary screens" that have not been moved to the central screen.

Only "tricky spot" I can see is ensuring the config in app is "per vehicle" (use case: couple with different vehicle screen setups, but occasionally drive the other's vehicle.) But I suspect that's already in there somewhere...
