EV PLAY MAX FOR GMC/Chevy/cadillac EVs- FAQ's

What is EV Play Max?

EV Play Max is an Android-based hardware device that supercharges your General Motors (GMC, Chevy, Cadillac) electric vehicle infotainment system. From video streaming apps like Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and Amazon Prime, to audio streaming apps like Pandora, Soundcloud, and XM; navigation apps such as Google Maps, Waze & ABRP; Web browsers like Chrome, Opera, and Firefox. Have some time to kill while charging? How about a little Grand Theft Auto or Roblox for the kids to pass the time — played on actual wireless game controllers (compatibility dependent on the game).

What about Apple CarPlay and Android Auto?

Yes! Both are available via either wired or wireless connection. You read that right – wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is now available on your GM EV!

What was your inspiration to create EV Play Max for GM EVs?

Don’t get me wrong – I think the GM infotainment system is actually pretty good; however, with only a handful of apps available in the Google Play Store, and no CarPlay or Android Auto, well, it’s definitely “lacking.” We spend a lot of time in our cars these days — especially EVs waiting to charge — and so we might might as well make the most of that time by fully utilizing that beautiful screen GM gave us!

Do I need a data plan from OnStar® to use EV Play Max?

You do not, however, you will want to pair EV Play Max with some sort of WiFi connection to get the most out of it. That could be your phone’s hotspot, the vehicle’s hotspot (with a data connection), your home/wifi connection, or a cellular modem.

Is it easy to install?

Absolutely! Just install the EV Play Max app, then attach the included power cable into your cigarette lighter and the included data cable in your car’s USB port, and you’re done! Total install time = 2 minutes.

Which vehicles is EV Play Max compatible with?

EV Play max is compatible with all vehicles running Android Automotive 12 or 14 with Google Built-in. As of now, we have confirmed compatibility with 2024, 2025, and 2026 of the following vehicles: Chevy Equinox, Blazer, and Silverado; GMC Sierra and Hummer; and Cadillac IQ/IQL, Optiq and Vistiq.

Can GM disable this?

The short answer is yes, they can. We would obviously try our hardest to circumvent any blocks, but at the end of the day, GM is going to do what GM is going to do. The bigger question in my mind is not “can they,” but “will they.’ With competition in the EV market at an all-time high, every car manufacturer knows that a happy customer, is a loyal customer. Aftermarket customization is an ingrained part of car culture, and the more you invest in your car, the likelier you are to keep it long-term or purchase another one like it when the time comes.

Will it void my warranty?

EV Play Max is considered an aftermarket “add-on,” and should not affect your warranty. It can easily be uninstalled and transferred to other vehicles, including rentals.

Does it allow for Video In Motion?

Due to legal and liability reasons, EV Play Max does not allow video apps to play while in motion. We do make certain exceptions on a case by case basis for law enforcement and government agencies with a specific use case.

How much does it cost and how do I get one?

EV Play costs $425.00, with no subscriptions or monthly fees. Head on over to the product page and get one today!
